Ingredients

  • 12 oz Flank steak (or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 3 cups Broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar (or Chinese black vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Neutral oil (canola/vegetable)
  • 6 oz Cooked noodles (lo mein or rice noodles)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Slice beef thinly, mince garlic, and cut broccoli into bite-size florets. In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and water until smooth.

  2. 2

Cook (15 minutes): Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat with neutral oil. Add beef in a single layer and stir-fry 3–4 minutes until browned and mostly cooked; transfer to a plate.

  3. 3

In the same pan, add broccoli with a splash of water (about 1–2 tbsp). Stir-fry 4–6 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.

  4. 4

Add garlic and stir-fry 30–60 seconds until fragrant. Return beef to the pan, pour in the garlic-soy mixture, and stir until glossy and thickened, 1–2 minutes.

  5. 5

Finish: Stir in sesame oil, then serve the stir-fry over cooked noodles.
