Ingredients

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil (canola/vegetable)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or lime juice)
  • 1 tsp honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1 clove garlic(optional)
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger(optional)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp water(optional)
  • 8 oz baby bok choy or spinach

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Press tofu for 5 minutes, then pat very dry and cut into 1/2-inch slabs. Toss tofu with cornstarch until lightly coated. Mince garlic and grate ginger (if using).

  2. 2

Cook (15 minutes): Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Pan-fry tofu in a single layer, 4–5 minutes per side, until deeply golden and crisp. Transfer to a plate.

  3. 3

While tofu cooks, steam greens (about 4–6 minutes) until just tender; keep warm.

  4. 4

Make sesame-soy drizzle: In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, and water (if needed) until smooth.

  5. 5

Serve: Spoon sesame-soy drizzle over tofu and serve with steamed greens.
