Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Cooked jasmine rice
  • 10 oz Green beans (or string beans)
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 Red chili (or Thai chili)(optional)
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup Thai basil (or basil)
  • 2 tbsp Water(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Mince the garlic and finely chop the chili (if using). Trim the green beans and slice into 1-inch pieces. Chop the Thai basil.

  2. 2

Cook (25 minutes): Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and chili and stir for 30–45 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 3

Add green beans and stir-fry 8–10 minutes, adding 1–2 tbsp water if the pan gets dry, until crisp-tender.

  4. 4

Stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar; pour into the pan. Simmer and stir 2–3 minutes until glossy and slightly thickened.

  5. 5

Turn off heat and stir in sesame oil and Thai basil until wilted. Serve the stir-fry over the cooked jasmine rice.
