Ingredients

  • 300 g Ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup Thai basil (or regular basil)
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Ginger
  • 2 stalks Green onion
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Fish sauce(optional)
  • 1 tsp Sriracha (or chili paste)(optional)
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Neutral oil
  • 8 leaves Romaine or butter lettuce leaves
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (15 minutes): Mince garlic and ginger. Thinly slice green onion. Roughly chop Thai basil. Mix lime juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, and fish sauce (if using) in a small bowl; set aside as the drizzle.

  2. 2

Cook (20 minutes): Heat neutral oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, season with black pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through, 8–10 minutes. Stir in garlic, ginger, and half the green onion; cook 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Finish the beef: Stir in sesame oil and sriracha (if using). Add the remaining green onion and cook 2–3 minutes. Turn off heat and fold in Thai basil just until wilted, about 30–60 seconds.

  4. 4

Assemble: Spoon beef into lettuce leaves and drizzle with the lime-soy mixture. Serve immediately.
