Ingredients

  • 180 g Spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 can (400 g) Crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp Red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Dried oregano(optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt(optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper(optional)
  • 1/2 cup Fresh basil
  • 1 tsp Extra olive oil for drizzling(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti until al dente, about 10 minutes; reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.

  2. 2

While the pasta cooks, heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 3

Stir in crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, oregano (if using), salt (if using), and black pepper. Simmer for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.

  4. 4

Add drained pasta to the sauce and toss well. If needed, add a splash of reserved pasta water to help the sauce coat the noodles until glossy.

  5. 5

Turn off the heat and stir in basil. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil and serve immediately.
