Ingredients

  • 300 g beef flank or sirloin
  • 250 g frozen broccoli
  • 0.5 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1.5 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp brown sugar(optional)
  • 0.5 tsp chili flakes or szechuan chili(optional)
  • 0.25 tsp salt(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice beef thinly. Toss with cornstarch and a splash of water (about 1 tbsp) so it clings.

  2. 2

Cook rice in advance; keep warm.

  3. 3

Make sauce: whisk soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic, and remaining water. Add chili flakes if using.

  4. 4

Blanch broccoli: microwave or steam until just tender-crisp; drain well.

  5. 5

Stir-fry: heat oil until shimmering. Sauté onion briefly, then add beef in a single layer; cook 2–3 minutes until browned.

  6. 6

Add broccoli and pour in sauce. Stir-fry 1–2 minutes until glossy and thickened. Serve immediately over rice.
