Ingredients
- 12 oz Flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 3 cups Broccoli florets
- 2 cups Cooked white rice
- 3 tbsp Soy sauce (low-sodium if desired)
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Ginger, minced(optional)
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 2 tbsp Water
- 1 tsp Brown sugar or honey(optional)
- 1 tsp Sesame oil(optional)
- 1 tbsp Neutral oil (canola/vegetable)
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper(optional)
Instructions
- 1
Prep (10 minutes): Slice beef thinly. Mince garlic (and ginger if using). Cut broccoli into small florets.
- 2
Cook broccoli (about 4 minutes): Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat with the neutral oil. Add broccoli and stir-fry until bright green and crisp-tender, about 3–4 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
- 3
Stir-fry beef (about 5 minutes): In the same pan, add beef and spread into a single layer. Cook without stirring for 30–60 seconds, then stir-fry until browned and just cooked through, about 2–4 minutes. Add garlic (and ginger if using) for the last 30 seconds.
- 4
Make sauce and finish (about 6 minutes): In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, cornstarch, water, and brown sugar/honey (if using). Pour into the pan and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1–2 minutes. Add broccoli back in and toss to coat. Turn off heat and stir in sesame oil (if using).
- 5
Serve: Spoon the beef and broccoli over the cooked rice and serve immediately.
