Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 3 cups Beef broth
  • 15 oz Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 8 oz Short pasta (like Rotini or Penne)
  • 1 to taste Salt and black pepper
  • 0.5 cup Shredded cheddar or parmesan cheese(optional)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped(optional)

Instructions

    In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink.

    Drain any excess grease from the pan, then add the diced onions and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.

    Stir in the minced garlic and tomato paste, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.

    Pour in the beef broth, crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and pepper, stirring to combine.

    Add the dry pasta to the skillet, ensuring it is mostly submerged in the liquid.

    Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until pasta is tender.

    Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted and the sauce has thickened slightly.
