Ingredients

  • 300 g silken tofu
  • 1 tablespoon doubanjiang (fermented broad bean paste)
  • 120 ml vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch(optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 stalk green onion, sliced(optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat the vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the doubanjiang and stir‑fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 3

Pour in the vegetable broth, soy sauce, and water, stirring to combine.

  4. 4

Gently slide the silken tofu cubes into the sauce and bring to a simmer; cook for 5‑7 minutes, careful not to break the tofu.

  5. 5

If a thicker sauce is desired, mix the cornstarch with a little cold water to make a slurry and stir it into the simmering sauce; cook 1‑2 more minutes.

  6. 6

Season with white pepper, then garnish with sliced green onion before serving.
