Ingredients

  • 180 g Pasta (spaghetti or penne)
  • 1 cup (240 g) Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1/2 cup, chopped Fresh basil
  • 1/4 tsp Salt(optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/4 cup, grated Parmesan cheese (optional)(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente (about 10–12 minutes). Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.

  2. 2

While the pasta cooks, heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt (if using), and simmer for about 5 minutes to thicken slightly.

  3. 3

Add drained pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat, adding a splash of reserved pasta water as needed to make the sauce cling. Turn off the heat and stir in chopped basil.

  4. 4

Serve immediately, finishing with the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil and black pepper. If using, top with parmesan.
