Ingredients

  • 200 g firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 120 ml oat milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper(optional)
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, sliced(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Press the tofu for 10 minutes, then cut into 1‑inch cubes and toss with cornstarch to coat evenly.

  2. 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a non‑stick skillet over medium‑high heat; add the tofu and fry until golden and crispy, about 4‑5 minutes, turning once.

  3. 3

In a small bowl whisk together maple syrup, soy sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper; pour over the tofu and stir‑cook for 2 minutes until the glaze thickens and coats the pieces.

  4. 4

Remove the tofu to a plate; in the same skillet add oat milk and simmer for 2‑3 minutes, stirring until the sauce is smooth and slightly reduced.

  5. 5

Return the tofu to the skillet, toss to combine with the oat‑milk sauce, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve immediately.
