Ingredients

  • 2 fillets salmon fillets
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (for searing)
  • to taste salt(optional)
  • to taste black pepper(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (15 minutes): Pat salmon dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. Cut broccoli into bite-size florets. Grate ginger, mince garlic, and measure sauce ingredients. In a small bowl, stir cornstarch with water until smooth.

  2. 2

Cook broccoli (about 6 minutes): Heat a large skillet or sauté pan over medium-high with a splash of water (or a small amount of oil if needed). Add broccoli, cover, and steam until bright green and crisp-tender, 4–5 minutes. Uncover and toss to evaporate excess moisture.

  3. 3

Pan-sear salmon (about 8 minutes): In the same pan (or a second skillet), heat neutral oil over medium-high. Place salmon skin-side down (if applicable) and cook 3–4 minutes without moving. Flip and cook 2–3 minutes until just cooked through.

  4. 4

Glaze (about 2 minutes): Reduce heat to medium. Add soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil to the pan. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer 30–60 seconds until glossy and lightly thickened. Spoon glaze over salmon.

  5. 5

Finish (about 2 minutes): Toss steamed broccoli with the remaining glaze in the pan (or drizzle glaze over broccoli). Sprinkle sesame seeds over broccoli and serve immediately.
