Ingredients

  • 200 g fettuccine pasta
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper(optional)
  • to taste salt(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Cook the fettuccine in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente, about 8 minutes; reserve 1/4 cup pasta water and drain.

  2. 2

While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the heavy cream and stir for 1 minute until the mixture bubbles gently.

  3. 3

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, whisking until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes; add reserved pasta water as needed to reach a silky consistency, then season with pepper and salt.

  4. 4

Add the drained fettuccine to the sauce, toss to coat evenly, and serve immediately.
