Ingredients

  • 8 pieces White bread slices
  • 1 liter Full-fat milk
  • 0.5 cup Sugar
  • 1 pinch Saffron strands
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon Slivered almonds
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped pistachios
  • 0.5 teaspoon Rose water(optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Condensed milk(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Pour the milk into a heavy-bottomed pan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

Reduce the heat and simmer the milk, stirring frequently, until it reduces to about half its original volume.

  3. 3

Add sugar, saffron strands, and cardamom powder to the reduced milk and stir until the sugar dissolves.

  4. 4

Mix in the slivered almonds and pistachios, then remove the milk (rabri) from the heat and let it cool slightly.

  5. 5

Use a round cookie cutter or a sharp-edged glass to cut circular discs out of the white bread slices.

  6. 6

Arrange the bread discs in a shallow serving dish in a single layer.

  7. 7

Pour the warm saffron milk mixture evenly over the bread discs until they are well-soaked.

  8. 8

Garnish with extra nuts and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving chilled.
