Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 ounces Dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, mix the 0.5 cup sugar and cinnamon together and set aside on a shallow plate.

  2. 2

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt; bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and stir in the flour all at once with a wooden spoon until a smooth ball of dough forms.

  4. 4

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip and let it cool for 5 minutes.

  5. 5

Heat oil in a deep skillet to 375°F (190°C). Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into the oil, cutting with scissors.

  6. 6

Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown, then drain briefly on paper towels.

  7. 7

Immediately roll the warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.

  8. 8

For the sauce, heat heavy cream until simmering, pour over chopped chocolate, let sit for 1 minute, then whisk until smooth.
