Ingredients

  • 1 lb Flank steak
  • 2 cups Broccoli florets
  • 0.5 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain into bite-sized strips.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and cornstarch to create the sauce.

  3. 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and 2 tablespoons of water; cover and steam for 2 minutes until bright green. Remove broccoli and set aside.

  4. 4

Wipe the skillet, add remaining oil, and increase heat to high. Add beef strips in a single layer and sear until browned, about 2 minutes per side.

  5. 5

Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and stir constantly until the sauce thickens and coats the meat.

  6. 6

Return the broccoli to the pan, toss to combine and heat through.

  7. 7

Serve immediately over steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
