Ingredients

  • 2 large Eggs(optional)
  • 2 cups Spinach(optional)
  • 1 lb Ground pork
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Chicken broth(optional)
  • 2 tsp Five-spice powder
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar (or low-carb sweetener)(optional)
  • 2 tsp Cornstarch(optional)
  • 2 tbsp Water(optional)
  • 1 head Romaine or butter lettuce
  • 1 tbsp Neutral oil
  • 3 stalks Green onions, sliced(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, and optional sweetener.

  2. 2

Heat a skillet over medium-high and add neutral oil. Add ground pork and cook until browned, breaking up lumps.

  3. 3

Pour in the sauce mixture and simmer 8–10 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 4

If you want a thicker glaze: mix cornstarch with water and stir in; simmer 1–2 minutes.

  5. 5

Optional egg-drop garnish: Turn heat to low. Whisk eggs and slowly drizzle into a gentle simmering liquid while stirring in one direction; cook 30–60 seconds.

  6. 6

Optional: Wilt spinach in the last minute.

  7. 7

Serve pork mixture in lettuce bowls. Garnish with green onions if desired.
