Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Jasmine rice
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 10 oz Green beans
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1/2 cup Thai basil
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp Chili flakes(optional)
  • 1 tbsp Neutral oil (or sesame oil)
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Cook the jasmine rice: rinse it, then combine rice and water in a small pot. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce to low, and simmer until tender, about 12 minutes (then keep covered off heat).

  2. 2

While the rice cooks, prep the stir-fry: trim and cut green beans, mince the garlic, and roughly chop the Thai basil.

  3. 3

Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and stir for 30–45 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 4

Add green beans and cook, stirring, for about 8–10 minutes until crisp-tender.

  5. 5

Stir in soy sauce and chili flakes (if using). Cook 1–2 minutes to coat and slightly reduce.

  6. 6

Turn off the heat and fold in Thai basil (and lime juice if using) until wilted. Serve the beans over the rice.
