Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Jasmine rice
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 12 oz Green beans
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Fish sauce
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Thai basil (or regular basil)
  • 1 tbsp Neutral oil
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse the jasmine rice, then add it to a pot with 1.5 cups water. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce to low, and cook until tender (about 15 minutes). Turn off heat and keep covered.

  2. 2

While the rice cooks, trim the green beans and mince the garlic. Chop the basil and measure the soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, and (if using) red pepper flakes.

  3. 3

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the neutral oil. Add garlic and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 4

Add the green beans and stir-fry for 8–10 minutes until crisp-tender. Stir in soy sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar, then cook 1–2 minutes to coat.

  5. 5

Turn off the heat and stir in basil, lime juice, and red pepper flakes (if using). Serve the beans over the jasmine rice.
