Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole green moong dal (mung beans)
  • 2 tablespoons Raw rice
  • 1 inch piece Fresh ginger
  • 3 pieces Green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 0.5 cup Finely chopped onions(optional)
  • 4 tablespoons Oil or Ghee
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Wash the moong dal and rice thoroughly, then soak them in water for at least 4 to 6 hours or overnight.

  2. 2

Drain the soaking water and transfer the dal and rice to a blender or mixer grinder.

  3. 3

Add the ginger, green chilies, cumin seeds, and salt to the blender with a little water.

  4. 4

Grind into a smooth, thick batter; the consistency should be pourable but not watery.

  5. 5

Heat a non-stick griddle or tawa on medium heat and lightly grease it with a few drops of oil.

  6. 6

Pour a ladleful of batter in the center and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin crepe.

  7. 7

Sprinkle some chopped onions and coriander on top, then drizzle a teaspoon of oil around the edges.

  8. 8

Cook until the bottom is golden brown and crisp, then flip and cook for 30 seconds before serving hot.
