Ingredients
- 2 fillets cod fillets
- 1.5 tbsp white miso paste
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp neutral oil (e.g., canola or grapeseed)
- 1 clove garlic(optional)
- 1 tsp ginger (fresh, grated)(optional)
- 8 oz spinach or broccolini
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)(optional)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)(optional)
Instructions
- 1
Prep (10 minutes total): If needed, pat cod dry. If using garlic/ginger, mince or grate. In a small bowl, whisk miso paste, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and water (and sesame oil if using) until smooth.
- 2
Cook greens (12 minutes total, alongside cod): Add greens to a steamer basket over simmering water. Steam until tender, about 3–4 minutes for spinach or 4–5 minutes for broccolini. Keep warm.
- 3
Pan-sear cod (12 minutes total): Heat neutral oil in a nonstick or well-seasoned skillet over medium-high heat. Place cod in the pan and cook 4–5 minutes per side until opaque and flakes easily.
- 4
Glaze and finish: Reduce heat to medium. Brush or spoon miso glaze over the cod and cook 1–2 minutes, turning once if needed, until glossy. Serve cod with steamed greens and sprinkle sesame seeds if using.
