Ingredients
- 2 pounds Boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 0.5 cup All-purpose flour
- 2 units Large eggs
- 1.5 cups Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
- 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 tablespoons Olive oil
- 24 ounces Marinara sauce
- 8 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
- 0.25 cup Fresh basil leaves(optional)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a large baking dish.
- 2
Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create thin cutlets, then pound them to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch.
- 3
Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
- 4
Coat each chicken cutlet in flour, dip into the egg wash, and then press firmly into the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
- 5
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown but not fully cooked through.
- 6
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the baking dish, then arrange the browned chicken cutlets on top.
- 7
Top each piece of chicken with more marinara sauce, a slice of mozzarella cheese, and a sprinkle of oregano.
- 8
Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and browned and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
