Ingredients

  • 4 slices Sourdough bread
  • 6 oz Fresh mozzarella
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 8 leaves Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic glaze(optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Salt(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice the mozzarella and tomato into even, 1/4-inch thick slices. Pat tomato slices dry with a paper towel to prevent sogginess.

  2. 2

Butter the outside of each sourdough slice. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer mozzarella, tomato slices, basil leaves, and a light sprinkle of salt. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if using, then top with remaining slices, buttered side out.

  3. 3

Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Grill sandwiches 4-5 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until bread is golden and mozzarella is fully melted, about 10 minutes total.

  4. 4

Rest 1 minute, slice in half, and serve warm.
