Ingredients

  • 3 medium Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, cold and diced
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp Caramel sauce (store‑bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 375 °F (190 °C). In a large bowl combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt; toss to coat evenly.

  2. 2

Prepare the dough: In a food processor pulse 1 ½ cups flour with ¼ tsp salt; add the cold butter pieces and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add 3‑4 Tbsp ice water, one tablespoon at a time, pulsing until the dough just comes together. Divide the dough in half, shape into disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

Roll one disk on a lightly floured surface to a 12‑inch circle and line a 9‑inch pie dish, trimming excess. Fill with the apple mixture, then roll the second disk and cut into strips (~½‑inch wide) for the lattice. Arrange strips over the filling in a criss‑cross pattern, sealing edges.

  4. 4

Brush the lattice with the beaten egg. Bake for 45‑55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Let the pie cool for 10 minutes, then drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the top before serving.
