Ingredients

  • 12 oz shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 each fresh red chilies, sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce(optional)
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp brown sugar(optional)
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Mince the garlic, slice the chilies, and roughly tear the Thai basil leaves. Pat shrimp dry and set aside.

  2. 2

Cook (12 minutes): Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and chilies and stir-fry for about 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 3

Add shrimp in a single layer and stir-fry until pink and just cooked through, about 2–3 minutes per side (total ~6–7 minutes).

  4. 4

Stir in soy sauce, fish sauce (if using), and brown sugar (if using). Simmer and toss for 1–2 minutes to coat and reduce slightly.

  5. 5

Turn off heat, add Thai basil and lime juice, and toss just until basil wilts, about 1 minute. Serve immediately.
