Ingredients

  • 200 g Rice noodles (pad thai style, medium width)
  • 250 g Ground beef (or thinly sliced beef)
  • 30 g Thai basil (fresh)
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 0.5 tsp Red chili flakes (or Thai chili)
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp Fish sauce
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tbsp Neutral oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Cook the rice noodles according to package directions (usually soak in hot water until tender, then drain). Set aside.

  2. 2

In a large pan or wok over medium-high heat, add oil and cook the beef until browned and cooked through, 6–8 minutes. Break up clumps as it cooks.

  3. 3

Add garlic, ginger, and chili flakes; stir for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 4

Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar. Simmer for 1–2 minutes to form a glossy sauce, then turn heat to medium.

  5. 5

Add the drained noodles to the pan and toss until well coated and hot, 6–8 minutes. Add lime juice and toss again.

  6. 6

Turn off the heat and fold in Thai basil just until wilted, about 30–60 seconds. Serve immediately.
