Ingredients

  • 12 oz Pork shoulder (boneless), trimmed
  • 1 cup Salsa verde
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt(optional)
  • 6 small Corn tortillas
  • 1/4 cup Yellow onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 Lime

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Dice the pork into 1-inch pieces. Dice the onion and chop the cilantro. Cut the lime into wedges.

  2. 2

Cook (25 minutes): In a saucepan over medium heat, combine pork, salsa verde, water, cumin, garlic powder, and optional salt. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to maintain a gentle simmer.

  3. 3

Cook until tender (about 20–25 minutes), stirring occasionally. If the mixture looks dry, add a splash more water as needed.

  4. 4

Serve: Warm tortillas. Shred or break up the pork with a spoon, then spoon onto tortillas. Top with onion and cilantro, and finish with lime juice.
