Ingredients

Servings:6
  • 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated.

  3. 3

Transfer the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading them out into an even layer.

  4. 4

In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.

  5. 5

Add the cubed chilled butter to the flour mixture and use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to rub it in until it looks like coarse breadcrumbs.

  6. 6

Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples, ensuring no large gaps remain.

  7. 7

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes before serving warm with custard or vanilla ice cream.
