Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Elbow Macaroni
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup Whole Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose Flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon Smoked Paprika(optional)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground Mustard

Instructions

  1. 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni according to package directions until al dente.

  2. 2

While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

  3. 3

Whisk in the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and ground mustard to create a roux, cooking for 1 minute.

  4. 4

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to prevent lumps, and simmer until the sauce thickens.

  5. 5

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until completely melted and smooth.

  6. 6

Drain the cooked macaroni and return it to the large pot.

  7. 7

Pour the cheese sauce over the macaroni and toss gently until every noodle is evenly coated.

  8. 8

Serve immediately while hot and creamy.
