Ingredients

  • 12 oz boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour(optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning(optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Pat the chicken dry and slice into 2 cutlets. Season with salt and pepper; lightly dust with flour if using.

  2. 2

Sear (about 8 minutes): Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden and cooked through, 4–5 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate.

  3. 3

Make the garlic butter (about 3 minutes): Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet; once melted, add minced garlic and Italian seasoning (if using) and cook 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 4

Quick pan sauce (about 6–7 minutes): Pour in chicken broth and scrape up browned bits. Simmer until slightly reduced, then stir in lemon juice. Return chicken (and any juices) to the skillet and spoon sauce over for 1–2 minutes to heat through.

  5. 5

Finish: Turn off heat and stir in parsley (if using). Serve immediately.
