Ingredients

  • 12 oz Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 6 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1.5 tsp Black pepper, freshly ground
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce (low-sodium if desired)
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar(optional)
  • 1.5 tbsp Neutral oil (canola/vegetable)
  • 1 tsp Fish sauce (optional, for Thai-style depth)(optional)
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch(optional)
  • 1 tbsp Water(optional)
  • 2 Green onions, sliced(optional)
  • 0.25 tsp Red pepper flakes (optional)(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Mince the garlic, slice the green onions, and pat the shrimp dry. In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, lime juice, and (if using) brown sugar. If you want a thicker glaze, whisk cornstarch with water and set aside.

  2. 2

Cook (10 minutes): Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat until hot. Add oil, then add shrimp in a single layer and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked.

  3. 3

Add garlic and black pepper to the pan and stir-fry 30–60 seconds until fragrant (do not burn the garlic).

  4. 4

Pour in the soy-lime mixture and toss to coat. If using cornstarch slurry, add it now and stir 30–60 seconds until the glaze lightly thickens. Turn off heat and toss in optional fish sauce and red pepper flakes. Serve immediately, topped with green onions.
