Ingredients

  • 12 oz ground chicken
  • 1 cup Thai basil (or sweet basil)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 Thai chili (or serrano), finely chopped
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce(optional)
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tbsp lime juice(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): Finely chop the garlic and Thai chilies. Roughly tear the Thai basil leaves. Mix soy sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar in a small bowl (and oyster sauce if using).

  2. 2

Cook (12 minutes): Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the oil. Add garlic and chilies and stir-fry 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

  3. 3

Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it up, until browned and cooked through, about 6–7 minutes.

  4. 4

Pour in the sauce mixture and stir-fry 2–3 minutes until glossy and thickened slightly.

  5. 5

Turn off the heat and stir in Thai basil until wilted, about 30–60 seconds. Finish with lime juice if using. Serve immediately.
