Ingredients

  • 2 packs (about 7 oz each) Udon noodles
  • 10 oz Beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 4 Scallions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds(optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cook udon noodles for 3-4 minutes, loosening the strands, then drain and rinse briefly under warm water. Set aside.

  2. 2

While the water heats, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, and sugar in a small bowl. Slice the beef thinly against the grain and season with black pepper.

  3. 3

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

Add garlic and the white parts of the scallions; stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.

  5. 5

Add the drained udon noodles and the sauce. Toss everything together for 2-3 minutes until the noodles are coated and glossy.

  6. 6

Stir in the green parts of the scallions, cook 30 seconds more, then divide between two bowls and top with sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
