Ingredients

  • 8 oz Thinly sliced beef (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 3 medium Potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 large Yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 2 tbsp Sake
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1.5 cups Dashi stock
  • 1/4 cup Frozen peas(optional)
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook 3-4 minutes until softened.

  2. 2

Add the beef slices and cook 2-3 minutes until no longer pink.

  3. 3

Add the potatoes and stir to coat, about 1 minute.

  4. 4

Pour in dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.

  5. 5

Simmer uncovered for 25-30 minutes, skimming any foam, until potatoes are tender and liquid is reduced.

  6. 6

Stir in peas during the last 2 minutes of cooking, if using. Serve hot in bowls with rice.
