  • 1 lb Ground pork
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely minced
  • 3 tbsp Potato starch
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Grated ginger
  • 30 pieces Shumai wrappers
  • 30 pieces Frozen green peas
  • 4 large Napa cabbage leaves for lining(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Place the finely minced onion in a bowl and toss with potato starch until evenly coated.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and grated ginger.

  3. 3

Mix the pork mixture vigorously by hand until it becomes sticky and pale in color.

  4. 4

Fold the starch-coated onions into the meat mixture until just combined.

  5. 5

Place a wrapper in your palm, add a tablespoon of filling, and squeeze your hand slightly to form a cylinder with an open top.

  8. 8

Steam over boiling water for 12-15 minutes until the meat is fully cooked and the wrappers are translucent.
