Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 piece large egg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika(optional)
- 2 tablespoons extra honey for drizzling(optional)

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan or a cast-iron skillet.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

In a separate medium bowl, beat the egg then whisk in the buttermilk, melted butter, and honey.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly to the edges.
