- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup Cornstarch
- 1 cup Hickory BBQ sauce
- 0.33 cup Honey
- 1 quart Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 tablespoon Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Pat the chicken drumsticks completely dry with paper towels to ensure maximum crispiness.
- 2
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- 3
Dredge each drumstick in the flour mixture, pressing firmly to coat, then shake off the excess.
- 4
Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 5
Fry the chicken in batches for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 6
While the chicken fries, combine the hickory BBQ sauce and honey in a small saucepan over low heat until warm and fluid.
- 7
Remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain on a wire rack for 2 minutes to stay crunchy.
- 8
Toss the fried drumsticks in a large bowl with the warm honey BBQ glaze until every piece is sticky and coated.
