Ingredients

  • 300 g boneless chicken thighs, diced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cups cooked short-grain rice
  • 2 green onions, sliced(optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Cook the rice according to package directions or use pre-cooked rice (about 10 minutes).

  2. 2

While the rice cooks, mince the garlic and dice the chicken into 2 cm pieces (about 5 minutes).

  3. 3

Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 5-6 minutes until golden and nearly cooked through.

  4. 4

Add garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant.

  5. 5

Stir in soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. Simmer 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.

  6. 6

Serve chicken over steamed rice, spooning extra sauce on top. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
