Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil for frying
  • 0.5 cup Dark chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, mix the 0.5 cup sugar and cinnamon together; set aside on a shallow plate.

  2. 2

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and stir in the flour all at once with a wooden spoon until a ball forms.

  4. 4

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.

  5. 5

Heat oil in a deep skillet to 375°F (190°C). Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting with scissors.

  6. 6

Fry until golden brown (about 2 minutes per side), then drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

  8. 8

For the sauce: Heat heavy cream in a small pot until simmering, pour over chocolate chips, let sit for 1 minute, and whisk until smooth.
