Ingredients

  • 1 lb Flank steak
  • 4 cups Broccoli florets
  • 0.33 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch to create the sauce.

  3. 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and 2 tablespoons of water; cover and steam for 2 minutes. Remove broccoli and set aside.

  4. 4

Wipe the skillet, add the remaining oil, and increase heat to high. Add beef strips in a single layer and sear until browned, about 2 minutes per side.

  5. 5

Pour the sauce over the beef and stir for 1 minute until the sauce thickens.

  6. 6

Add the broccoli back into the pan and toss to coat everything evenly in the sauce.

  7. 7

Serve hot over rice, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
