Ingredients

Servings:10
  • 3 large overripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 piece large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon(optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan thoroughly.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.

  3. 3

Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas until well combined.

  4. 4

Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, vanilla extract, and sour cream until the batter is creamy.

  5. 5

Sprinkle the baking soda, salt, and cinnamon over the mixture and stir in.

  6. 6

Gently fold in the flour until just incorporated; do not overmix the batter.

  7. 7

If using, fold in the chopped nuts, then pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

  8. 8

Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. 9

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
