Ingredients

  • 6 pieces boneless pork chops
  • 12 ounces root beer
  • 18 ounces BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Pat the pork chops dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.

  2. 2

Place the seasoned pork chops in the bottom of the slow cooker in an even layer.

  3. 3

Whisk together the root beer and liquid smoke in a small bowl, then pour over the pork chops.

  4. 4

Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 7 hours or on High for 3 to 4 hours until the meat is fork-tender.

  5. 5

Carefully remove the pork chops from the slow cooker and discard the excess cooking liquid.

  6. 6

Shred the pork using two forks, removing any fat or gristle if necessary.

  7. 7

Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir in the BBQ sauce and brown sugar.

  8. 8

Cover and cook for an additional 30 minutes on Low to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
