Ingredients

Servings:8
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet with butter.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.

  3. 3

Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking vigorously until the mixture is smooth and slightly pale.

  4. 4

Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt using a spatula until just combined; do not overmix.

  5. 5

Fold in 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips, reserving the rest for the top.

  6. 6

Spread the dough evenly into the prepared skillet and press the remaining chocolate chips into the surface.

  7. 7

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the center still looks slightly soft.

  8. 8

Let the cookie cool in the skillet for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving with vanilla ice cream.
