- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 pinch flaky sea salt(optional)

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet with butter.

In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.

Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking vigorously until the mixture is smooth and slightly pale.

Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt using a spatula until just combined; do not overmix.

Fold in 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips, reserving the rest for the top.

Spread the dough evenly into the prepared skillet and press the remaining chocolate chips into the surface.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the center still looks slightly soft.
