Ingredients

  • 200 grams Korean rice cakes (tteok)
  • 1 package Instant ramen noodles
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1.5 tablespoons Sugar
  • 3 cups Anchovy broth or water
  • 100 grams Fish cakes, sliced
  • 2 stalks Green onions, chopped
  • 2 pieces Hard-boiled eggs(optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Soak the rice cakes in cold water for 10 minutes to soften them if they are refrigerated or frozen.

  2. 2

In a shallow pot or large skillet, combine the broth, gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, and sugar.

  3. 3

Bring the liquid to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring to ensure the chili paste is fully dissolved.

  4. 4

Add the rice cakes and fish cakes to the pot, reducing the heat to medium.

  5. 5

Simmer for 5 minutes until the rice cakes begin to soften and the sauce starts to thicken.

  6. 6

Add the dry ramen noodles into the center of the pot, pushing them down into the liquid.

  7. 7

Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the noodles are al dente and the sauce has reached a syrupy consistency.

  8. 8

Garnish with chopped green onions, halved hard-boiled eggs, and sesame seeds before serving hot.
