Ingredients

Servings:3
  • 1 cup Whole raw almonds
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 3 tablespoons Ancho chili powder
  • 2 cups Chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup White onion, chopped
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the almonds for 3-5 minutes until fragrant and golden brown.

  2. 2

Remove almonds and add 1 tablespoon of oil to the same skillet; sauté the onions and garlic until soft.

  3. 3

Add the raisins and chili powder to the skillet, stirring constantly for 1 minute to release the oils.

  4. 4

Transfer the toasted almonds, onion mixture, raisins, and cinnamon into a high-speed blender.

  5. 5

Pour in 1 cup of broth and blend until the mixture is a smooth, thick paste.

  6. 6

Return the paste to the skillet over low heat, adding the remaining broth and chocolate chips.

  7. 7

Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and the chocolate is fully melted.

  8. 8

Serve warm over roasted chicken or roasted vegetables, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
