Ingredients
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
- 1 cup Self-rising flour
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 cup Whole milk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 2 cups Sliced peaches or berries (fresh or canned)
- 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon(optional)
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice(optional)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- 2
Place the half cup of butter in a 9x9 inch baking dish and put it in the oven while it preheats to melt.
- 3
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour and sugar until well combined.
- 4
Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and no large lumps remain.
- 5
Remove the baking dish from the oven once the butter is fully melted and sizzling.
- 6
Pour the batter directly over the melted butter, but do not stir them together.
- 7
Spoon the fruit (and its juices) evenly over the top of the batter, again resisting the urge to stir.
- 8
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the batter has risen through the fruit and the top is golden brown.
