Ingredients

Servings:4
  • 1 cup Rava (Semolina/Suji)
  • 1 cup Mixed Vegetables (Carrots, Beans, Peas)
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Vangi Bhath Powder or Bisi Bele Bhath Powder
  • 3 tablespoons Ghee or Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon each Urad Dal and Chana Dal
  • 10 pieces Cashew Nuts(optional)
  • 10 leaves Curry Leaves
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Grated Coconut(optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Dry roast the rava in a pan on medium heat until it becomes aromatic and slightly changes color, then set aside.

  2. 2

Heat ghee or oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and cashew nuts.

  3. 3

Once the dals turn golden brown, add the curry leaves and chopped onions, sautéing until translucent.

  4. 4

Add the mixed vegetables and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they are slightly tender.

  5. 5

Stir in the masala powder (Vangi Bhath or Bisi Bele Bhath powder) and salt, mixing well with the vegetables.

  6. 6

Pour in 2.5 cups of water and bring it to a rolling boil.

  7. 7

Slowly add the roasted rava while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.

  8. 8

Cover and cook on low heat for 3-5 minutes until the water is absorbed, then garnish with grated coconut and fresh coriander.
