Ingredients

Servings:2
  • 10 ounces Canned tuna in water, drained
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Celery, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon Red onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh dill, chopped(optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt and black pepper
  • 4 slices Sourdough bread slices
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 slices Sharp cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 medium Tomato, thinly sliced(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a medium bowl, flake the drained tuna with a fork and mix in the mayonnaise, celery, red onion, lemon juice, and dill.

  2. 2

Season the tuna mixture with salt and pepper to taste, stirring until well combined.

  3. 3

Butter one side of each bread slice evenly with the softened butter.

  4. 4

Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a large non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.

  5. 5

Top each slice in the skillet with one slice of cheddar cheese, a generous scoop of the tuna mixture, and two slices of tomato.

  6. 6

Place the remaining cheese slices over the tuna, then top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side facing up.

  7. 7

Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, flipping carefully, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is thoroughly melted.

  8. 8

Remove from the skillet, slice diagonally, and serve immediately while hot.
