Ingredients
- 4 cups Fresh Georgia peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder
- 1 cup Whole milk
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2
Place the butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish and put it in the oven while it preheats to melt.
- 3
In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves.
- 4
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- 5
Stir the milk and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients until just combined to form a smooth batter.
- 6
Remove the hot baking dish from the oven and pour the batter directly over the melted butter; do not stir.
- 7
Spoon the peaches and their juices evenly over the top of the batter; again, do not stir.
- 8
Bake for 40-45 minutes until the crust has risen to the top and is golden brown.
