Classic Caprese Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Sourdough bread
  • 3 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 sliced Roma tomato
  • 4 leaves Fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic glaze(optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch Salt and black pepper

    Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread evenly.

    Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a cold non-stick skillet.

    Layer half of the mozzarella on the bread, followed by the tomato slices and fresh basil.

    Season the tomatoes with a pinch of salt and pepper, and drizzle with balsamic glaze if using.

    Top with the remaining mozzarella and the second slice of bread, butter-side up.

    Turn the heat to medium-low and cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

    Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is toasted.

    Remove from heat, let sit for 1 minute, slice diagonally and serve.
